BIO

Black Kite is the sonic vision of Los Angeles-based producer and musician Vicki Lynn Tippit. At the forefront of burgeoning genre chaos-witch wave, Black Kite's sound lives at the intersection of darkwave, industrial, and electronic art-pop, and they have carved out a sound that’s emotionally raw, rhythmically engaging, and atmospherically rich. Punctuated with poignant narratives, Tippit's music calls to mind the broody offerings of Portishead and Nine Inch Nails. Her haunting vocals rise out of frenetic rhythms to create lush textures that embody both delicacy and menace, and her lyrical introspection urges you beyond a rumination on the shadow side of humanity into a close examination of your own. In 2023, Tippit was joined on drums by multi-instrumentalist Amy Ling, whose innovative percussive style merges with Tippit’s sonic landscapes to create a convergence of precise constructs and acoustic nuance. Together, they craft a distinctive aural atmosphere that is wholly their own. Black Kite is currently working on an EP to be released in 2026.
